Impangele

Situated near the base of the Langeberg Mountain Range, 500m from the centre of Swellendam, nestled in a beautiful indigenous garden, this guesthouse offers superb accommodation in a peaceful setting. Impangele offers a choice of accommodation – in the main house there are three spacious en-suite bed and breakfast rooms and in the garden there is a self-catering cottage, which offers an economic opportunity to families and groups. David and Amanda are caring hosts, who will always go the extra mile for the comfort of their guests, and are happy to arrange activities and restaurants. It is worth staying two nights here, as Swellendam is an ideal base for exploration of the Overberg area, and Dave and Amanda can organise personal guides for mountain trails, as well as transport, if you fancy visiting some of the wonderful local wine farms and tasting some of the best wine!

Overlooking the Langeberg mountain range, Impangele is only a short walk from the pretty town of Swellendam, but has the advantage of being far enough away for guests to enjoy the peace and serenity. The only thing to disturb your sleep will be the birds nesting in the huge, ancient palm tree, who tend to wake early to welcome the day! A short walk will take you to Swellendam’s nine hole golf course, reputed to be the most beautiful in South Africa, but if you prefer your walks unimpeded by golf clubs, you are minutes away from the base of the Marloth Mountain Nature reserve, where you can follow trails and have a day’s hiking experience. The water is allegedly the purest in the world. Something completely different – a short walk in the other direction will take you to the World Famous Faerie Sanctuary. If you are travelling with small girls, or you just like the bizarre and unusual, this is definitely worth a stop!
