The 4 Star Red Mountain House is situated in the heart of the beautiful village of Clarens. Accommodation is on the first floor of the complex, each room adjoins a balcony, the ideal place to sit and admire the views of the surrounding mountains or Clarens’s village square while enjoying a sundowner. Our accommodation consists of 6 luxury double rooms furnished with turn of the century antiques, queen-size, extra-long, four poster beds, fine percale linen and Persian carpets. Each room has a sitting area with an open fireplace and comfortable Morris chairs, where complimentary drinks and chocolates await your arrival. Fully tiled bathrooms are en suite with a shower, bath and wall heater. For your comfort, under tile heating takes the chill from cold winter nights whilst ceiling fans cool those balmy summer evenings. Alternatively, our luxury self-catering apartment, decorated with a subtle ethnic touch, offers flexible option for 2 – 6 guests.
A choice of either one or two en-suite bedrooms and a Futon sleeper couch. A well-appointed kitchen and lounge/diner with fireplace, two private balconies, one adjoining the second bedroom, the other a wonderful extension of the lounge area. Enjoy a barbeque on the private balcony while absorbing the breathtaking panoramic views of the Eastern Highlands and Lesotho. Clarens is a mountain hamlet surrounded by stunning scenery in the heart of the Free State. Conveniently situated in central South Africa, it offers and easy breakaway from Johannesburg / Pretoria, Durban and Bloemfontein. Activities offered in the area include fly fishing, hikes, birding, nature trails, abseiling, 4×4 routes. quad biking, white water rafting and archery amongst others. We are just 15km from the beautiful Golden Gate National Park and 45km from the Lesotho border (bring passports). The weather tends to be chilly in the evenings, so ensure you have sufficient warm clothing. Please note that there are no banks in Clarens as yet, although ATM’s are numerous.
